Will McKerall, Director, Facilities Design & Construction

Will McKerall joined the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) in October 2023, bringing with him over 45 years of experience in engineering, construction, and infrastructure management. Prior to joining TFC, he served as Founding Partner and President of Structured Health Data Systems, an engineering technology firm based in Waco, Texas. Will’s distinguished career includes 32 years of service in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he held engineering and executive leadership roles. During his military tenure, he directed project portfolios exceeding $2 billion annually and concluded his service as the Department of Defense Director of Infrastructure & Environment for Europe and Africa. He holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Will’s work has been published in esteemed industry journals, including the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Structural Journals.

Cameron J Geertsema, PE, Deputy Director, Facilities Design & Construction

Cameron has over 30 years of experience leading large complex organizations, in executive and field level positions, in facilities operations, project management, environmental operations and compliance, planning, design, and construction. Prior to joining TFC, Cameron worked for an Owner’s Representative firm, Broaddus & Associates, in healthcare planning, design, and construction. In this capacity he served as the Program Manager for the $2.1B Tarrant County, John Peter Smith Hospital Master Plan. Prior to this he served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years and retired as a Captain in the Civil Engineer Corps (Seabee). In his key leadership roles throughout his career, he has served as the Commanding Officer of Naval Facilities Engineering Command, HI; Vice Commander of Naval Facilities Command, Pacific; Commanding Officer of the 22nd Naval Construction Regiment and Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE. He has deployed, around the world, to Central Command (CENTOCM), Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), Europe (EUCOM), Africa (AFRICOM), and the Pacific (PACOM) in support of various exercises, humanitarian, and combat-related operations. In these roles he was responsible for significant planning, construction, real estate, contracting (to include SBA), and infrastructure for the installations-public works, ship/yard, aviation, and shore-related facilities.

Cameron Geertsema has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M, a Master of Science from the University of Texas, and attended Executive Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School of Business). He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas, a Certified Energy Manager, and was a certified Facilities Engineer and Contracting professional with the federal government (Level III).
