Dr. Hafedh Azaiez

Superintendent of Schools of Round Rock Independent School District

Raised in Tunisia in North Africa, Dr. Azaiez earned a bachelor’s degree in physics and chemistry from La Faculte des Sciences de Tunis. He came to the United States to pursue graduate school, earning a master’s of education from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and a doctorate of education in educational leadership from Sam Houston State University.

Dr. Hafedh Azaiez is fluent in English, Spanish, Arabic and French. His career in public education began in 2002 as a middle school science teacher with Houston ISD. He later moved on to administrative roles, including assistant principal, principal, and lead principal in Houston ISD and assistant superintendent of middle schools in Spring ISD. Before coming to Round Rock ISD, Dr. Azaiez served as the Superintendent of Schools in Donna ISD from 2018 to 2021, where he is credited with spurring significant improvements in the Rio Grande Valley district. 

Dennis Covington

COO/CFO, Round Rock Independent School District

Dennis Covington is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer for Round Rock ISD. He oversees multiple departments, including Finance, Payroll, Purchasing, Risk Management, Transportation, Maintenance, Custodial and Food Services. He also manages the planning and implementation of the district's bonds.

Prior to his time with Round Rock ISD, he served for 2 1/2 years as the CFO for Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools, also overseeing that district's bond execution. Before KCKPS, he served Union county Public School as CFO, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in multiple leadership positions in the Finance Department, and the United States Air Force as a Director of Programs and Budget. He has 39 years of experience in planning and managing financial operations and 27 years of experience in school district finance. Mr. Covington has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University, and is an alumnus of the United States Air Force's Budget Officers and Staff Officers schools.
