Join us for engaging presentations by Dr. Chris Cervini with Austin Community College District, Clint Pruett & Ron Jones with Dripping Springs ISD, and Nora Linares-Moeller with HousingWorks Austin as they share details on their upcoming November Bond Elections and what they mean for Austin's economy.

Speakers:

Dr. Chris Cervini, Vice Chancellor for Community & Public Affairs, Austin Community College District

Dr. Chris Cervini is currently Vice Chancellor for Community and Public Affairs at Austin Community College District (ACC). In this role, he is responsible for engaging ACC’s external stakeholders to create deeper connections between the college and community. Cervini works with local chambers of commerce, community organizations, and elected leaders at the local, state, and federal levels to advocate for the college and its students. In this role, he oversees the Center for Nonprofit Studies (Nonprofit Austin), ACC’s elections and voter registration efforts, and its Community Engagement Office. Before embarking on a path in higher-education leadership, Cervini had a career in public policy and communications, serving as Chief of Staff to the Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico from 2002-2006. He also served as a Vice President at a Western regional public-affairs and strategic-communications firm and held senior communications roles in the healthcare industry. Dr. Cervini believes higher education is the best strategy for achieving upward social mobility in a society increasingly imperiled by rising inequality.

Nora Linares-Moeller, Executive Director, HousingWorks

Nora Linares-Moeller has served as the Executive Director of HousingWorks Austin since August of 2017. She became involved in the affordable housing world in 2013 raising money for the successful 2013 housing bond campaign. In 2014, she began consulting with HousingWorks. HousingWorks Austin is a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct research, educational initiatives and advocacy around housing affordability. Nora’s civic and political achievements span the past 42 years. She spent 12 years in state government management with the last five serving as the first Executive Director of the Texas Lottery Commission. As a community volunteer, Linares-Moeller serves on the Board of Directors of Ballet Austin (Past President), President of the Board of the Sally M. Kingsbury Sarcoma Research Foundation, Inc., and a board member of Transit Forward and Texas Rural Communities.

Clint Pruett, Director of Facilities & Construction, Dripping Springs ISD

Clint has served as the Director of Facilities and Construction for DSISD for the past five years. In this role, he is responsible for districtwide facilities operations, as well as the district’s bond construction program. During his tenure at DSISD, a significant portion of his time has been devoted to the implementation of the district’s 2018 bond program, which included the construction of two elementary campuses, a high school addition, several renovation projects, and the conversion of an existing campus into a new central administration/child development center (currently under construction).

Ron Jones, School Board Vice President, Dripping Springs ISD

Ron Jones is in his third term on the DSISD school board.  Consulted with state and local governments, K-12 schools and higher education organizations for over 20 years. He has been a consultant with JL Powers & Associates and also serves on the board for Friends of Texas Public Schools.  He has worked in the education technology sector and also served on the Dripping Springs Water Supply Corp board.  He is past president of the Dripping Springs ISD Education Foundation and volunteers as a mentor with The Burke Foundation, a treatment facility for abused and neglected youth, and has chaired his community’s most successful fundraising campaigns.
